At the very moment Jesus breathes His last, Matthew shows us that the world does not stay silent. The earth shakes, rocks split, the temple veil tears, and even tombs open—creation itself responds to the death of its Creator. What looks like defeat is revealed as divine victory, and the most unlikely witness, a Roman centurion, suddenly sees what others missed: “Truly this was the Son of God.” This passage invites us to slow down, look again, and feel the weight and wonder of the cross.
