The Reason for the Season.

December 10, 2021 Preacher: Gareth Franks Series: Christmas Season

Topic: Christian Living Scripture: Luke 2:1–20

At Christmas, we are confronted with much confusion as to what Christmas is all about. What is real and what is not?

3 lessons we can learn from our passage in Luke 2:

  1. It Was A Real Day
  2. It Was A Real City
  3. It Was A Real Saviour, Messiah, Lord

The Christmas story revealed to us in the Bible is not a creation of human imagination. The Christmas story is indeed true, and our hope and our faith are based on facts (NOT FICTION) - the facts that: The Lord of this universe, the Saviour of this world entered this world at a particular time (real history), in a real city in order to become flesh so that he could pay the ultimate price to redeem us from our sins and take away our guilt; …..to fulfill all our hopes and to defeat all our enemies, and make us safe and satisfied in him, forever.

We have a great Savior, Jesus, the Christ, the Lord, born on a day in a city to save us from our sins — our many sins.

Don’t let the great reality of Christmas, His INCARNATION, be obscured by the tinsel and commercialism of modern-day Christmas. Scripture reminds us today that “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” The ruler, the sovereign, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Lord of the universe entered into our world at a particular time (real history), in a real city in order to become flesh so that he could pay the ultimate price to redeem us from our sins and take away our guilt by offering us forgiveness and reconciliation with God.
